Bruselas is a small township tucked into the southern part of Huila, one of Colombia’s most iconic coffee-growing departments. Thanks to its high altitudes, rich volcanic soils, and generous rainfall—plus the dramatic geography of the Andes and nearby Magdalena River—Bruselas is primed for exceptional coffee. It's the most productive coffee-growing area in the entire Andean region, with coffee farming as the lifeblood of the local economy.

The region is known for its traditional, small-scale farms—usually around 3 hectares—run by families who’ve passed down coffee knowledge for generations. While rooted in tradition, growers here have been adapting and innovating in recent years. You’ll now see experimental fermentation methods, improved post-harvest handling, and even plantings of exotic varieties like Pink Bourbon and Gesha popping up across the hillsides.

Bruselas isn't just about coffee though. It’s a lively community where people celebrate with gusto (especially during the Fiestas de San Pedro), and grow everything from plantain and avocado to lulo and tomato on the side. There’s a real sense of pride and resilience here, and you can taste it in the cup.

This coffee is a blend of 7 high quality small scale producers from the area. By working with Caravela, implementing similar farming practices and blending their crops together, they are better able to see a profitable return and easier sales process due to combining their smaller volumes into one larger volume for exporting.
